Darrell Hulisz, R.Ph., PharmD., is associate clinical professor at Ohio Northern University’s School of Pharmacy.  He also holds a faculty appointment at Idaho State University College of Pharmacy and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.  Dr. Hulisz received his BS in Pharmacy from the University of Toledo and Doctor of Pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Dr. Hulisz has published more than 60 papers in the medical and pharmacy literature, including a review of zinc and its effect on the common cold virus in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association. He lectures extensively (locally and nationally), and has served as an investigator in several clinical trials.  He has made numerous appearances on local television and radio programs, and has been quoted in magazines such as Newsweek, Parenting and USA Weekend.  He also serves on several national advisory panels and is a regular columnist for WebMD’s Medscape.com.

Dr. Hulisz currently practices as a clinical pharmacist with University Hospitals of Cleveland, Family Medicine Residency Program, where he works in consultation with family physicians, both on inpatient and outpatient services.  Dr. Hulisz has been the recipient of multiple teaching awards, and was recently awarded a federal, multi-agency faculty development fellowship to further his expertise in the field of substance abuse. He is also an investigator for a multidisciplinary chronic pain study funded by the Macy Foundation.

Dr. Hulisz serves on several hospital committees, teaching resident physicians, medical and pharmacy students in both didactic and clinical settings.  His areas of interest and expertise include the pharmacologic management of cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, and the common cold.

 


Jeff Unger, M.D.

Jeff Unger, M.D. is an assistant professor of family medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He is the associate director of the Unger Primary Care Medical Center and Catalina Research Institute in Chino, CA. The center uniquely incorporates primary care with clinical research in areas related to metabolism, obesity, mental illness and GI disorders.

Dr. Unger is the recipient of the National Headache Foundation Speaker of the Year Award and has published more than 130 peer reviewed articles and book chapters on diabetes, mental health and pain management. On the main stage at the American Academy of Family Practice, Dr. Unger enjoys speaking about the endocrinology of mental illness. His medical textbook, entitled Diabetes Management in Primary Care (Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins) was published in April 2007.

In 2006 Dr. Unger published a book on migraine headaches (Elsevier). A second book on diabetes, edited by Dr. Unger, was published by Elsevier in 2007.

Dr. Unger is a consulting physician for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball club.

 


Jon Galiardi, R.Ph., PharmD.

Jon Galiardi, R.Ph., PharmD., is currently a staff pharmacist with CVS in Aurora, Ohio. Dr. Galiardi received his Doctor of Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University in 2007.

While there, he collaborated with professors on several research projects, including the use of COX-2 inhibitors to induce cancer cell apoptosis, as well as the testing of mercury levels of freshwater fish of various Ohio rivers. Dr Galiardi is a member of the American Pharmacists Association, the Ohio Pharmacists Association, and Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Inc.

 


Alan S. Fox, R.Ph..

Alan S. Fox, R.Ph., is currently a pharmacy manager at HealthOne Pharmacy in Eastlake, Ohio. Mr. Fox received a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Toledo.

Mr. Fox has been working in pharmacies for more than 20 years. His experiences range from overseeing pharmacists to writing and implementing a JCAHO manual for pharmacy to developing training programs. Fox is also the past president of NOAP (Northern Ohio Academy of Pharmacy).
